I have listed several honors below, along with additional clarifications, explanations, and sources for context. I translated as much as possible; however, since poetry often loses its essence in translation, I have left them in Dutch.

National IT Competition (1150+ participants), Finalist

Hello Nicolas,

As you probably already read in your mailbox, you did a great job: you managed to qualify for the finals! A sincere congratulations is the least I can wish you (you are among the top 8% and it can only get better as you progress through the finals)…. I wish you the best of luck!

It will take place on Saturday, March 23rd from 13.30h-15.30h in auditorium Q on campus Etterbeek of VUB (Pleinlaan 2, 1050 Brussels). You can find more information on this page (the campus is also easily accessible by train). Accompanying you on that day is unfortunately impossible for me. I deliberately did not put you 4 in BCC so you can arrange to drive together (car/train) if you wish.

Participation in the finals is not mandatory, but I do think this is a unique opportunity to challenge yourself a little further. The final itself will no longer be done on the computer, but it will be done on paper…. in that sense, it’s a good idea to prepare that a bit. If you have questions in that preparation, I would like to feel free to try to support you…. just give me a call.

Good luck and most of all have fun taking on the challenge! I would love to hear afterwards how it went.

Congratulations again!
Evert De Boeck

Results, 2024: 18th/1169 participants of the same age and one year older (top 1.5%)

School Poetry Competition (500+ entries), Winner

Riiiiiiiiiing!

Inpakken, op- en meepakken die rugzakken.

“Tot maandag! Doei! Daag!” liefste schoolvakken!

Hup! Snel naar de fiets, mijn gedroomde draagraket:

“Klaar voor de start?” Voor een nieuw s-n-e-l-h-e-i-dsduet?

Het vertrek is verschroeiend vlug! Zelfs over de rand

van wat kan. Toet!!

Eindelijk!

Thuis.

Hi Nicolas,

As discussed in person today, I am also giving you the “pre-task for students” digitally so you can go through everything in advance. I also sent it to you by email.

Mrs. Claeys will contact you tomorrow.

Kind regards,

Independent Marketing Course, Sole Participant from Class of 2026

I chose to take an optional marketing course, even though it wasn’t part of the regular curriculum and I was the only student from my year to join. We looked at case studies such as LEGO, explored different ways companies reach people through branding, advertising, psychological strategies like the Goldilocks effect, and worked on a real project: helping rebrand a local youth house to make it more appealing to young adults. It gave me a new perspective on how creative thinking and strategy come together in the real world.
