A Care Center Website for the Elderly
I had the privilege of designing and rebuilding the website for De Lindeboom, a care center for the elderly situated along the picturesque Belgian coast. This project wasn’t just about web development; it was about creating a platform that addressed the unique needs of an older audience, making their online experience both functional and meaningful.
Focus on Accessibility
Understanding the challenges that older users face online, I prioritized accessibility. Key design choices included:
- Larger buttons for easy interaction.
- Clear fonts to improve readability.
- Simple, intuitive layouts to minimize confusion.
Every design element was crafted to be as user-friendly as possible, ensuring effortless navigation and eliminating barriers to access.
Functionality Meets Meaning
While aesthetics are crucial, the website’s functionality was paramount. De Lindeboom is a place of care and community, and the website reflects that mission by serving as a comprehensive hub. Features include:
- Information on daily activities.
- Contact details for easy communication.
- Details about care options to support informed decisions for residents and their families.
A Personal Growth Opportunity
This project also provided invaluable learning opportunities. Designing for the elderly required balancing functionality with a meaningful user experience, deepening my understanding of user-centric design. The final result not only serves the needs of De Lindeboom but also represents a milestone in my development as a web designer.
